Apply for Marketing & Data Insights Analyst

Lead cross-functional efforts to turn social listening, audience, and campaign data into clear, actionable insights, especially when the data is messy, incomplete, or noisy. You'll be a proactive, self-starting analyst who can identify what conversations, signals, and trends matter, articulate why they're relevant, and determine how to surface them, then translate that into executive-ready narratives (decks/one-pagers) and dashboards that sharpen brand strategy and marketing performance. This role also helps mature our social data foundation over time, owning and expanding core datasets, improving how we source and structure listening analytics, and (as a nice-to-have / future growth area) contributing to building and maintaining an internal database/data environment.

Description

Responsibilities

Data Sourcing, Asset Ownership & Analytics Execution (50%)

  • Own and expand key marketing and market-intelligence datasets (internal + external), including defining what "good data" looks like for the business.
  • Proactively identify data gaps and clearly articulate requirements: what we need, why we need it, where it should come from, and how it will be used.
  • Source and integrate analytics inputs across platforms (paid media, web/app, CRM/email, social listening, research, third-party data).
  • Build and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide reliable, real-time visibility into performance and drivers.
  • Partner with data governance/technology teams to ensure data quality, definitions, and integration across systems.
  • Create repeatable processes to convert large, complex datasets into signal-over-noise insights and measurable recommendations.
  • (Nice-to-have / growth area) Support the evolution of an internal data environment by contributing to database/data mart design, documentation, and scalable reporting foundations.

Marketing Analytics & Social Intelligence (35%)

  • Own social intelligence workflows and tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Meltwater, NetBase) and connect social signals to campaign and market outcomes.
  • Translate ambiguous questions into structured analyses: define the question, determine the data needed, validate assumptions, and deliver insights.
  • Deliver integrated analytics (segmentation, predictive/propensity insights, ROI optimization, test-and-learn readouts) that improve targeting and performance.
  • Establish benchmarks, track progress, and communicate insights to channel and project leads with clear implications and next steps.

Strategic Partnership & Executive Storytelling (15%)

  • Partner with leadership to inform the analytics roadmap—including priorities for data acquisition, tooling, and scalable measurement.
  • Develop insight-driven content for weekly/monthly/quarterly business reviews (decks, one-pagers, and executive summaries).
  • Advise teams on planning, optimization, and long-term growth opportunities grounded in evidence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 7+ years in marketing analytics, insights, market research, or adjacent analytics roles.
  • Proven ability to operate as a self-starter: independently driving analyses from vague problem statements to decision-ready outputs.
  • Demonstrated success working with large, complex datasets and turning noisy inputs into clear, defensible recommendations.
  • Strong capability to define and advocate for data needs (requirements, definitions, sourcing options, tradeoffs, and business value).
  • Expertise translating data into executive-ready recommendations across decks, one-pagers, dashboards, and verbal narratives.
  • Deep knowledge of marketing KPIs and measurement concepts (segmentation, predictive analytics, attribution/measurement frameworks).
  • Advanced proficiency in Tableau/Power BI/Excel and strong PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and project execution in fast-paced environments.

Required Skills

  • Market research and intelligence gathering; strong social/digital ecosystem knowledge.
  • High proficiency in Boolean logic, media monitoring, and social content analysis.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Client-service mindset and comfort working under tight deadlines.
  • Comfort partnering with technical teams and navigating data ambiguity (definitions, gaps, inconsistent sources).

Nice to Have (Future-Focused)

  • Strong SQL skills and experience querying large datasets.
  • Experience contributing to or owning analytics datasets in a database/warehouse environment (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) or building "single source of truth" reporting layers.
  • Familiarity with data modeling, ETL/ELT concepts, dbt, Airflow, or lightweight automation (Python/R).
  • Experience evaluating and integrating third-party datasets and vendors.

Work Arrangement & Support

  • Location: Hybrid — four days per week in our Alexandria, VA-area office, one day remote.
  • Structured onboarding and access to education benefits.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $90,000-$125,000 base, plus annual performance-bonus eligibility.
  • Employer-sponsored health benefits (medical, dental, and vision); retirement plan with company match; commuter benefits. Generous paid time off and paid holidays, plus professional development and learning support (stipends, training, and tuition reimbursement), and more.

Actual compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, education, and internal equity. The posted range is just one component of our total-rewards package, which also includes comprehensive benefits, bonuses, and professional-development resources.
