Job Summary
As part of its growth, Habitat is seekinga data manager. The person in this role is responsible for managing, analyzing, leveraging, and optimizing data related to the company and client projects. He or she designs, develops, and maintains the infrastructure, tools, and workflows that enable the collection, storage, analysis, dissemination, and effective use of data.
She supports teams in data management and in selecting related methods and tools. She also contributes to the development of new approaches, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and interactive tools such as dashboards, to improve operational efficiency and the quality of the analyses produced.
Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Project Collaboration
- Participate in client projects as an analyst, working alongside project managers and the relevant teams.
- Participate in internal follow-up meetings and meetings with clients.
- Acquire, prepare, organize, and analyze geospatial data from various sources.
- Perform the required analyses using established methods, tools, and workflows.
- Review and validate the data and results produced.
- Ensure the management, version control, archiving, and confidentiality of data and analytical scripts
- Project Data Management and Governance
- Develop and optimize data management, storage, and archiving structures.
- Establish and document the processes for data collection, integration, validation, transformation, and retention.
- Design and maintain the databases, services, and infrastructure needed for the projects.
- Serve as a resource person for data management, quality, and use.
- Advise teams on data management needs, guidelines, and opportunities for improvement.
- Solution Development and Innovation
- Design, develop, and maintain digital tools for data analysis, management, and sharing.
- Develop and deploy advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning solutions.
- Set up and maintain the technical environments necessary for the development and deployment of solutions.
- Contribute to the development of new tools, methods, and approaches.
- Optimize workflows and digital tools to improve team efficiency.
- Reporting of Results and Documentation
- Produce datasets, maps, charts, tables, and other materials for presenting results.
- Develop dashboards, interactive applications, visualizations, and reports.
- Interpret and explain the results in layman's terms to make them easier to understand and to facilitate decision-making.
- Document and annotate scripts to ensure reproducibility and knowledge transfer.
- Ensure that R&D work is properly documented in collaboration with the scientific management team.
DESIRED PROFILE AND HIRING CRITERIA
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, data science, geomatics, or a related field.
- Advanced programming skills in R, Python, and SQL, as well as in script development and process automation
- Advanced skills in the manipulation and analysis of vector and raster geospatial data
- Proficiency in developing interactive applications and dashboards
- Experience with QGIS or ArcGIS and knowledge of coordinate systems and projections
Desired Qualifications
- Interest in applied geomatics and environmental issues
- Ability to explain technical concepts in layman's terms
- Ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic team and on multiple projects at the same time
- Written and verbal communication (French and English)

Working conditions
Salary: $65,000 to $90,000, depending on experience
Permanent, full-time position: 35 hours per week – possibility of a 6-month contract
Desired start date: as soon as possible, no later than fall 2026
Hybrid work arrangement: remote work and the Mile-End office
Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada
