Data Management Architect
Location: Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Charlotte, or Atlanta | Type: Full Time | Setup: Hybrid (2 to 3 days onsite) | Experience: 10+ years | Pay: Up to $185K base + 10-15% bonus
- About the Role
- We're hiring a Data Management Architect to own the data strategy and architecture behind enterprise transformation programs. You'll walk into client environments that are often messy, ambiguous, and half-modernized, figure out what's really there, and lay out a phased path to a governed, modern data platform that people trust.
You'll join the Data and Analytics practice of a global AI-first technology consultancy that partners with well-known enterprises across industries. The role blends pursuit work and delivery: you'll shape proposals and lead discovery workshops, then stay on to anchor the solution once the work is sold. It's hybrid, with 2 to 3 days a week in a local office in one of seven metros, plus up to 25% travel to client sites as programs need it.
If you're the architect people pull into the room when the data questions get hard, and you'd rather design the answer than just document it, this is your kind of role.
- What You'll Do
- Lead pursuit teams as the data subject matter expert, from RFP responses to proactive proposals
- Plan and run workshops with client teams to map the current landscape, requirements, and constraints, then design a future-state architecture
- Build phased implementation roadmaps that account for scope, sequencing, and the people available to do the work
- Architect data quality, catalog, lineage, master data management, and governance solutions, sometimes from scratch and sometimes by modernizing what's already in place
- Explain complex architectures to technical teams and executives alike, and build consensus when stakeholders don't agree
- Anchor proofs of concept and help size and scope new engagements
- Lead delivery teams spread across time zones and take real ownership of the outcome
- Represent the practice at industry events and in thought leadership
Qualifications
- Core Experience
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in data architecture or data management consulting
- Strong hands-on background across data quality, data catalog, data lineage, and master data management
- Working knowledge of data governance concepts: policies, procedures, operating models, runbooks
- Deep data modeling experience across multiple industries
- A track record of both greenfield builds and legacy modernization
- Cloud and Platform
- Expertise in at least two hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouse and lakehouse platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks
- Experience with on-premises and cloud environments, and architecting for performance, scalability, and security
- Consulting and Communication
- Comfortable presenting to audiences from department directors up to the C-suite
- Clear, crisp writing and strong presentation skills
- Practical fluency with AI tools in your own workflow, and a grounded view of what AI can and can't do, including the ethical side
- Located within commuting distance of Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Dallas, Austin, Charlotte, or Atlanta, and able to travel up to 25%, sometimes on short notice
- Why Join Us
- You'll be part of a data practice that works across the full lifecycle, from ingestion and governance to analytics and applied AI, for clients whose names you'd recognize. The work spans industries and platforms, so you won't spend years solving the same problem twice, and you'll have a direct hand in shaping how engagements are scoped and won.
If you want senior-level ownership, variety in the work, and a team that treats data architecture as the foundation everything else depends on, this one is worth a conversation.
