Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join our team onsite in Jersey City, NJ. The ideal candidate will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data infrastructure to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS services
• Build and maintain data lakes and data warehouses on AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena)
• Develop data pipelines using AWS Glue, Lambda, EMR, and Step Functions
• Write efficient, scalable code in Python and/or Scala for data processing
• Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
• Implement data quality checks, validation, and monitoring processes
• Optimize SQL queries and database performance
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements
• Ensure data security, governance, and compliance standards are met
• Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues in production environments
• Document data architecture, pipelines, and processes

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services: S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Lambda, Athena, Kinesis, Step Functions
• Proficiency in SQL and Python (Scala/Java is a plus)
• Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop)
• Experience with data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git)
• Knowledge of data orchestration tools (Airflow, AWS Step Functions)
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have:

• AWS Certification (Data Analytics Specialty, Solutions Architect)
• Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse platforms
• Familiarity with Kafka or other streaming technologies
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation for infrastructure as code
