About the Role
- Raytheon is seeking a Principal RF Data Link Engineer to join the Advanced Effector Guidance Systems team in Tucson, Arizona. This role focuses on the design, development, simulation, integration, and testing of advanced wireless communication and RF data link systems supporting next-generation tactical missile programs.
- The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in RF communications, digital signal processing, waveform development, and communication system architecture while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced RF communication and wireless data link systems.
- Perform communication system architecture studies, trade studies, and link budget analyses.
- Develop, prototype, simulate, and validate communication signal processing algorithms.
- Design and evaluate RF communication models using high-fidelity simulations.
- Support hardware implementation and integration of communication subsystems.
- Verify and validate communication algorithms in laboratory and field test environments.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams throughout development.
- Participate in technical design reviews, peer reviews, and customer presentations.
- Support system integration, testing, and performance optimization for tactical communication systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in RF communications, signal processing, or related engineering fields.
- Extensive programming experience using MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++, or similar programming languages.
- Strong background in communication theory, RF systems, digital signal processing, probability theory, stochastic signal processing, or electromagnetic theory.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance before employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Experience designing digital communication systems and RF data links.
- Experience with waveform simulation using PSK, FSK, OFDM, and QAM modulation techniques.
- Knowledge of RF impairments including Doppler, multipath, and phase noise.
- Experience with RF subsystem integration and link budget analysis.
- Familiarity with RF transceiver architecture and antenna design.
- Experience with fixed-point algorithm development and VHDL verification.
- Knowledge of Layer 2 and higher communication protocols.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and technical communication skills.
