About the Role

  • Raytheon is seeking a Principal RF Data Link Engineer to join the Advanced Effector Guidance Systems team in Tucson, Arizona. This role focuses on designing, developing, simulating, testing, and validating advanced wireless communication and RF data link systems for tactical missile programs.
  • The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge RF communication technologies, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop secure, high-capacity, and agile communication systems for some of the world's most demanding defense applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced RF communication and wireless data link systems.
  • Perform communication architecture trade studies and link budget analyses.
  • Develop, simulate, prototype, and test communication algorithms and RF data link models.
  • Design and implement digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms.
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing to verify communication system performance.
  • Analyze RF subsystem performance and optimize end-to-end communication systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams throughout product development.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, peer reviews, and customer briefings.
  • Support system integration, validation, and performance evaluation.
  • Document technical analyses, engineering designs, and project deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another STEM discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in RF communications, wireless systems, or digital signal processing.
  • Minimum of 8 years of programming or simulation experience using MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++, or equivalent programming languages.
  • At least 5 years of experience in three or more of the following areas:
  • Communication Theory
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
  • Probability Theory
  • Stochastic Signal Processing
  • RF and Electromagnetic Theory
  • Ability to obtain an Interim U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience designing digital communication systems and RF data links.
  • Knowledge of modulation techniques including PSK, FSK, OFDM, and QAM.
  • Experience with RF propagation, link budget analysis, Doppler effects, multipath, and phase noise.
  • Knowledge of RF transceiver design and antenna systems.
  • Experience with waveform simulations, VHDL verification, and wireless fading models.
  • Familiarity with Layer 2 and higher communication protocols.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
