About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our Engineering & Operations team. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering & Operations, this role is pivotal in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, clean room environments, identity workflows, and privacy-compliant data integrations. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with SQL and Python, along with a strong understanding of cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks. Your expertise will enable you to develop secure, reliable, and efficient data workflows that support partner onboarding, audience activation, measurement, and reporting initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge data collaboration ecosystems, ensuring data privacy and security while delivering high-quality data products that power NBCUniversal’s strategic initiatives. The role requires collaboration across various teams, including product, engineering, privacy, and partner-facing units, to implement best practices and innovative solutions that uphold data integrity and compliance standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical fields
  • Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, including building and operating production data pipelines and data models
  • Deep proficiency in advanced SQL and Python for data processing, automation, and pipeline development
  • At least 2+ years of hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar technologies
  • Experience with ELT pipeline development using tools like Airflow, dbt, Snowpark, or PySpark
  • Knowledge of data privacy, security, and access control best practices
  • Strong understanding of data quality, validation, and testing frameworks
  • Ability to translate business requirements into reliable data products and workflows
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams

Responsibilities

  • Support partner onboarding into clean room environments across platforms such as Snowflake, LiveRamp, Databricks, or similar technologies, ensuring secure and privacy-preserving configurations
  • Implement and manage clean room architecture patterns, including data access controls, environment setup, and release validation
  • Serve as the technical owner for partner onboarding efforts, coordinating with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, operations, and privacy teams
  • Configure privacy-preserving controls such as aggregation thresholds, anonymization techniques, and output validation checks to ensure compliance
  • Deploy and manage Python-based libraries, templates, and reusable components within the data ecosystem to streamline workflows
  • Support environment setup, configuration management, and version-controlled library releases
  • Design, implement, and enforce role-based access control policies to secure data environments
  • Build and operate scalable ELT pipelines using SQL, Snowpark, PySpark, or similar tools to support data-driven initiatives
  • Develop curated datasets for audience segmentation, measurement, activation, and reporting purposes
  • Implement identity resolution logic to map internal and third-party identifiers, supporting privacy-safe workflows for audience matching and measurement
  • Build automated data quality checks, monitor data integrity, and troubleshoot discrepancies
  • Optimize query performance and manage platform costs through tuning, workload management, and resource allocation strategies
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance platform reliability
