About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in Toronto, Ontario. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that support our enterprise data needs. This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture, ETL processes, and cloud-based data solutions, particularly within the Azure ecosystem. As a key contributor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions that enable strategic decision-making. You will also be responsible for optimizing data systems, ensuring data integrity, and staying current with emerging technologies to continually improve our data infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience developing and managing Azure Data Pipelines
  • Demonstrable experience with Databricks, including building and maintaining data pipelines
  • Proficient in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and standard methodologies
  • Experience with Informatica for data integration and transformation tasks
  • Proficiency in reporting tools such as Power BI and Cognos for data visualization and reporting
  • Strong understanding of data architecture and database management systems
  • Solid programming skills in Python, SQL, or Scala
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience with data quality and data governance practices to ensure data integrity and security
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring and optimization techniques for large-scale data systems

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines that automate data collection, transformation, and storage from various sources
  • Ensure seamless integration of data from multiple sources into unified data warehouses or lakes for easy access and analysis
  • Design, implement, and manage databases and data storage solutions capable of handling large volumes of data efficiently
  • Implement data quality and governance systems to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and security across the organization
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize data processes to enhance efficiency and reliability
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions
  • Evaluate emerging data engineering technologies and tools, recommending their adoption to improve infrastructure and processes
  • Document data workflows, pipelines, and architecture for future reference and compliance purposes
