About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance data pipelines and data platforms. Your expertise will help transform complex data into actionable insights, supporting McKesson's mission to improve healthcare outcomes. This position offers the flexibility of 100% remote work from any location within the United States.

The ideal candidate will analyze business and technical requirements to create end-to-end data solutions, including data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and data serving layers. You will lead the development of complex ETL/ELT workflows, optimize for performance and cost-efficiency, and implement advanced Delta Lake features such as schema enforcement and data versioning. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Product, QA, and system owners, will be essential to ensure reliable and timely data delivery. Additionally, you will play a key role in debugging data issues, enforcing data governance standards, and mentoring junior engineers. Your work will directly impact McKesson’s ability to deliver accurate, secure, and compliant data solutions to our stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data engineering or related roles
  • At least two (2) years of demonstrated experience with SQL for debugging and fixing application-related issues
  • At least two (2) years of experience with Java for building and enhancing applications
  • At least two (2) years of experience with Python for application development and data processing
  • Proficiency in MySQL for querying and data issue investigation
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks for scalable data pipeline development and maintenance
  • Experience managing data storage and retrieval using Amazon S3
  • Proficiency with GitLab for version control and collaborative development
  • Experience integrating external services via API calls and troubleshooting data flow issues
  • Knowledge of automation testing tools such as Katalon for validation across environments

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines and platforms
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to develop comprehensive data solutions
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex ETL/ELT workflows, optimizing for performance, reliability, and cost
  • Implement advanced Delta Lake features including schema enforcement, schema evolution, and data versioning
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and system owners to define data contracts, SLAs, and ensure data quality
  • Debug and resolve complex data issues involving distributed processing and increasing data volumes
  • Enforce data governance, security, and compliance standards within Databricks environment
  • Participate in design and code reviews, identifying systemic issues and proposing improvements
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing initiatives
  • Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to best practices in data engineering
