Position Overview
Marathon Petroleum is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise data platforms and data products. This role will focus on building scalable data pipelines, integrating data from multiple sources, implementing data quality and governance standards, and supporting modern Microsoft Azure and Databricks data environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in cloud data engineering, ETL/ELT development, data integration, transformation, performance optimization, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance scalable enterprise data pipelines and data products.
- Develop data ingestion, transformation, and integration solutions using modern data engineering technologies.
- Work with Azure and Databricks to build and support cloud-based data solutions.
- Implement data quality, governance, and data lineage standards across data platforms.
- Perform data modeling and optimize pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot data pipeline and platform issues and provide production support.
- Participate in testing, deployment, release, and continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with data architects, analysts, developers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Follow established engineering standards, development methodologies, and best practices.
- Support cloud modernization and enterprise data platform initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience in Data Engineering.
- Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale data pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT, data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data services and cloud platforms.
- Experience implementing data quality, governance, and lineage.
- Knowledge of data modeling and data platform architecture.
- Experience with performance optimization for large-scale data pipelines.
- Experience supporting production data environments and resolving operational issues.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms.
- Experience with cloud modernization initiatives.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Experience with Dev/Test/Production deployment practices.
- Experience collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Work Environment
- Hybrid position: 4 days onsite and 1 day remote in San Antonio, TX.
- Candidates must be comfortable working onsite four days per week.
- Immediate availability is preferred.
