• Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

• Compensation: $60-$70/hour W-2 (depending on experience)

Overview

• Robert Half is seeking an experienced Power BI / Azure Data Engineer to support a growing enterprise data and analytics environment. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for a professional who enjoys building scalable data solutions, developing impactful dashboards, and leveraging Microsoft's Azure ecosystem to transform data into actionable business insights.
• The ideal candidate has a strong background in Power BI development, Azure data services, and modern data engineering practices. This individual will partner with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to design and deliver high-quality reporting and analytics solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models.
• Build and optimize data pipelines using Microsoft Azure data services.
• Develop scalable ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and deliver business data.
• Work with structured and semi-structured data from multiple enterprise sources.
• Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models for reporting.
• Collaborate with business users to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Improve data quality, governance, and overall reporting performance.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, reporting environments, and Azure resources.
• Support deployment processes using Azure DevOps and CI/CD best practices.
• Document technical solutions and participate in Agile development activities.

• Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience with Power BI development.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data technologies.
• Experience building enterprise data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions.
• Advanced SQL development skills.
• Experience with:
• Azure Data Factory
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Azure SQL Database
• Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
• Microsoft Fabric (preferred)
• Azure Databricks (preferred)
• Strong understanding of data modeling and dimensional design.
• Experience creating complex DAX measures and Power Query transformations.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience using Python or PowerShell for automation.
• Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
• Microsoft Azure or Power BI certifications are a plus.
• Financial services or enterprise-scale experience is preferred.
