About The Role

Become a part of our caring community as a Lead Data Engineer within the Business Intelligence division. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design, development, and management of data processing architectures and solutions that facilitate the transformation of both structured and unstructured data into actionable insights at an enterprise level. Reporting directly to the Director of Business Intelligence, you will handle complex data challenges, develop advanced software tools leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data technologies, and lead initiatives to optimize data infrastructure and governance. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing the data warehouse using Medallion architecture and Kimball modeling, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, business-ready data marts and star schemas for analytics. Additionally, you will establish well-governed processes for metadata management, reference data, ontologies, and semantic layers, collaborating with various partners to develop and enforce data governance frameworks. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical skills and leadership capabilities to drive data-driven decision-making and innovation across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience.
  • Expertise in Medallion architecture and Kimball dimensional modeling.
  • Proven experience integrating semantic and organizational data assets with leading AI platforms.
  • At least 2 years of project leadership experience in data engineering projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar data systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with dbt.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data and related data management practices.
  • Ability to work effectively within the EST time zone.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data processing architectures and pipelines using cloud-native platforms.
  • Ingest data from internal and external sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Develop software tools utilizing artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data technologies to generate insights that enhance member outcomes.
  • Lead the development and optimization of the data warehouse using Medallion architecture and Kimball modeling techniques.
  • Establish and govern metadata management, reference data, ontologies, and semantic layers to ensure data consistency and usability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data governance standards and frameworks.
  • Exercise sound decision-making on complex data-related issues, analyzing variable factors to determine the best course of action.
  • Mentor and lead data engineering team members to foster a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering and healthcare analytics.
