About The Role
As a Data Engineer at Whatnot, you will play a vital role in powering our data-driven decision-making processes. You will be responsible for building and scaling the systems that support analytics, machine learning, and real-time applications. Working closely with cross-functional teams—including product, customer experience, logistics, finance, and trust—you will design robust data architectures, develop resilient data pipelines, and create foundational data products that fuel our internal growth and enhance user experience.
Your day-to-day tasks will include owning end-to-end data architecture, defining how critical business data is captured, modeled, and served, and making strategic decisions regarding storage, compute patterns, and service level agreements. You will act as the data owner for key domains such as Customer Experience and Logistics, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability. Additionally, you will develop domain-oriented data models, enforce modeling standards, and establish data contracts across teams. Automating operational workflows, supporting analytics and experimentation, and enabling insights through semantic layers and APIs will be core to your responsibilities. Your work will directly impact the company's ability to innovate and deliver exceptional experiences to our users.
