About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Engineer to join Babylist’s dynamic Data team. This senior individual contributor role sits at the intersection of platform architecture and AI-native tooling, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data systems that empower decision-making across all facets of the business. Your primary focus will be on developing the infrastructure that supports data pipelines, automation, and agentic systems crucial for data ingestion, testing, and maintenance. Collaborating closely with analysts, data scientists, and product teams, you will ensure the reliability and scalability of Babylist’s data infrastructure, enabling the company to leverage AI and data insights effectively. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the foundational systems that support a rapidly growing, multi-million-user platform, particularly as Babylist approaches its pre-IPO phase.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience building production-grade AI/LLM systems, including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and tool integrations that are relied upon by real users.
  • Strong platform mindset, viewing repetitive data engineering tasks as system design challenges and creating automation scaffolding to streamline processes.
  • Deep expertise in Python and extensive experience (7+ years) developing scalable, reliable data engineering systems.
  • Proficiency with Airflow and dbt, with a solid understanding of data modeling, ETL principles, and best practices in data architecture.
  • Hands-on experience managing cloud data resources within AWS, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and EKS.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or comparable modern cloud data warehouses, with the ability to optimize data storage and retrieval.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, capable of translating analytical and scientific needs into robust infrastructure solutions.
  • A natural inclination to incorporate AI into daily workflows, staying curious about emerging AI technologies and their applications.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI innovation, with a proactive approach to experimenting and integrating new AI tools and techniques into data engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and scale reliable data pipelines for ingestion into Snowflake, ensuring high performance and robustness across a $750M+ e-commerce platform.
  • Develop and deploy agentic systems that automate data engineering tasks such as pipeline generation, testing, and maintenance, transforming manual processes into automated workflows.
  • Create and maintain machine learning pipelines that enable data scientists to operationalize models and seamlessly integrate them into the broader data infrastructure.
  • Implement comprehensive data monitoring solutions to track system health, performance, and data quality across complex, multi-system user journeys.
  • Collaborate with Analytics Engineers and other stakeholders to ensure the integrity, consistency, and accessibility of shared data assets.
  • Partner with product managers, analysts, and ML teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions that support advanced analytics, AI initiatives, and business growth.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt emerging AI tools and methodologies to enhance data engineering workflows and capabilities.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with equity and bonus opportunities, aligned with market standards and individual experience.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage including medical, dental, and vision plans paid for by the company.
  • Retirement savings plan with company matching contributions and flexible spending accounts to support your financial well-being.
  • Generous paid parental leave, vacation, and PTO policies to promote work-life balance.
  • Remote work stipend to assist in setting up a productive home office environment.
  • Access to resources and perks that support physical, mental, and emotional health, including parenting and childcare support, and financial planning services.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, career advancement, and ongoing learning in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
