About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team at Stord. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of transforming our data infrastructure, enhancing data pipelines, and making data a strategic asset for the company. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including data analysts, data scientists, product managers, and other engineering groups—to develop scalable data solutions that drive business growth and operational efficiency.

This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise with modern data engineering tools within a rapidly expanding organization. Your work will support machine learning applications, optimize our data warehouse architecture, and foster a data-driven culture across the company. As a key contributor, you will help shape the future of Stord’s data ecosystem, ensuring data quality, security, and accessibility to empower decision-making at all levels.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining robust data pipelines and data warehouses.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing and automation.
• Experience with data transformation tools such as dbt or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of data warehousing technologies such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar.
• Understanding of data lake concepts and related technologies.
• Experience with data modeling, data governance, and security best practices.
• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts, data preparation, and model evaluation.
• Experience with version control systems like Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines using modern tools and technologies.
• Lead efforts to re-architect and optimize the data warehouse for performance, scalability, and data quality.
• Implement data cleansing, transformation, and validation processes to ensure high data integrity.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define data requirements and develop effective data models.
• Build and manage data infrastructure on GCP, including data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines.
• Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize data workflows for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement and enforce data security, privacy, and governance standards across all data assets.
• Prepare and transform data for machine learning models, ensuring high quality and consistency.
• Support the AI team by enabling data access and assisting with basic data analysis and reporting tasks.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into the platform.
• Document data pipelines, models, and processes to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Promote data democratization and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
