About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Application Programmer III to join our Financial Crimes technology team in Charlotte, NC. This is a contract position lasting 12 months, offering an opportunity to work on critical projects that enhance anti-money laundering (AML) monitoring and surveillance capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in enterprise data engineering, ETL development, and big data technologies, with a proven track record of delivering secure, scalable solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications that support financial crimes use cases. You will collaborate closely with business partners to refine requirements, estimate effort, and deliver solutions within Agile frameworks. Additionally, you will build and automate CI/CD pipelines, manage technical operations, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data provisioning and governance for large-scale AML datasets. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in software development and data engineering, with strong technical expertise in various data technologies. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline is required. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with Teradata 16.x, including advanced SQL, BTEQ, TPT, and performance tuning techniques. Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica 10.x, along with data migration and conversion projects, is essential. Familiarity with big data ecosystems like Cloudera CDP, Hadoop, Hive, Impala, PySpark, and Scala is highly desirable. UNIX proficiency, shell scripting, and Autosys scheduling are also necessary skills. The candidate should be experienced in designing and building scalable data solutions, coordinating across distributed teams, and implementing Agile methodologies with CI/CD tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible. Strong communication skills, stakeholder engagement, and requirement discovery abilities are critical for success in this role. Preferred qualifications include domain knowledge in Anti-Money Laundering and financial crimes, along with experience in data governance and surveillance platform provisioning.
Responsibilities
The Application Programmer III will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications supporting financial crimes use cases. This includes collaborating with business partners to gather and refine requirements, estimating effort, and delivering solutions within the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in an Agile environment. The role involves performing proofs of concept to evaluate new technologies and approaches, mitigating project risks, and ensuring best practices are followed across data engineering workstreams. You will build and automate CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible to streamline deployment processes. Managing technical operations, including change management, platform upgrades, and maintenance, will be part of your responsibilities. You will partner with production support teams and other technical groups to implement changes effectively, ensuring high availability and performance. Additionally, you will source, analyze, and model data, designing data provisioning models for large AML datasets, and driving governance standards. Developing present-state assessments, future-state designs, and transition plans with measurable outcomes will be key deliverables. Clear communication of project timelines and deliverables to stakeholders and team members is essential to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
