About The Role

The Principal Data Engineer at Continuus Technologies LLC is a senior-level technical leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the company's data architecture and strategy. Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering or related disciplines is required. The candidate must demonstrate expert-level proficiency in SQL and strong skills in Python or similar programming languages. Extensive experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and distributed systems is essential, along with a proven track record of designing and operating large-scale data platforms. Strong systems thinking and architectural decision-making capabilities are critical. Preferred qualifications include experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, real-time streaming systems like Kafka, Spark, or Flink, and a solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance practices. Experience supporting machine learning, AI, or product-led data platforms and the ability to influence technical direction without direct managerial authority are highly desirable.

The Principal Data Engineer will be responsible for defining and evolving the company's long-term data architecture and technical vision. This includes designing highly scalable, resilient data platforms and pipelines that meet the organization’s analytical, machine learning, and product requirements. The role involves setting standards for data modeling, reliability, observability, and governance to ensure data quality and security. Leading complex, high-risk technical initiatives and migrations is a core aspect of this position, requiring strategic planning and execution. The engineer will serve as the escalation point for critical data incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures. Influencing the selection of tools and technologies across the data stack is essential to maintain a modern and efficient architecture. Mentoring staff and senior data engineers to elevate engineering excellence, partnering with leadership to align data strategy with business objectives, and ensuring data platforms are capable of supporting diverse use cases are key responsibilities.
