About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in Herndon, VA. This role is pivotal in supporting our client’s data infrastructure, focusing on the development and maintenance of resilient data pipelines and related applications. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in Python to facilitate the collection, ingestion, transformation, and analysis of data, ensuring the integrity, security, and accessibility of critical cyber data. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including data scientists and cyber analysts, to deliver actionable insights and support cyber operations. Your work will directly impact the organization’s ability to detect, analyze, and respond to cyber threats effectively.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• High School Diploma with 5+ years of experience in software development, specifically with Python
• Proven experience in data engineering, including building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes
• Proficiency with version control systems such as Git or GitHub
• Hands-on experience working with common data formats such as JSON, XML, and CSV, as well as structured and semi-structured data
• Comfortable working in Linux environments and utilizing Bash and command-line tools for development and operational tasks

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana, familiarity with AWS services like Lambda, EC2, and S3, and knowledge of cyber operations. Certifications such as CISSP are advantageous, demonstrating a commitment to security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain robust data pipelines utilizing Python, with a focus on data collection, ingestion, ETL, and analytics processes
• Create and support complex data solutions, including data transformation, validation, and quality assurance to ensure reliable data delivery
• Integrate data from diverse sources such as REST APIs, flat files, and various structured/semi-structured formats to support analytics and operational needs
• Ensure data availability, accessibility, security, and reliability to meet stakeholder and operational requirements
• Test, troubleshoot, and validate data movement, parsing, and transformation scripts across development and production environments
• Provide ongoing platform and production support, including debugging, root cause analysis, issue resolution, and system maintenance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data products and assist end-users in understanding and utilizing analytics tools effectively
