About the Role
We are hiring a Data Engineer / Full-Stack Developer for a life sciences/biotech client. This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable building data pipelines in Databricks or Snowflake and shipping full-stack features in Node.js and React. You will work directly with scientific, clinical, and commercial data, so real domain exposure to life sciences or biotech is non-negotiable.
Engagement Details
Location: 100% Remote
Working Hours: US Eastern Time or European hours
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 1 year total (4-month initial contract, extension based on performance)

What You Will Do
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and warehouse layers on Databricks or Snowflake. Work with Redshift for downstream analytics and reporting workflows. Build and maintain internal full-stack applications using Node.js on the backend and React on the front end. Partner with data science, clinical, and commercial teams to translate life sciences data into usable products. Ensure data quality, lineage, and governance across pipelines feeding BI and analytics tools. Contribute to BI reporting layers in Power BI, Tableau, or Spotfire where required.
Must-Have Skills
Strong hands-on Data Engineering experience with Databricks or Snowflake (either works, not both required). Solid working experience with Amazon Redshift. Full-stack development skills, preferably both Node.js and React. Candidates with only one of the two will be considered if the depth is strong. Direct, well-rounded experience working on life sciences or biotech data (clinical, R&D, commercial, or regulatory).
Nice to Have
Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or Spotfire. Exposure to data governance frameworks in a regulated (GxP, HIPAA) environment. Prior experience in a startup or lean data team where engineering and product overlap.
