About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join Bet365’s expanding data function, collaborating closely with our AI & Automation department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on transforming complex data into intelligent, scalable solutions that support regulatory compliance and drive operational efficiencies. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and evolving our data infrastructure, primarily transitioning from traditional SQL Server environments to a modern Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and automating data processes, ensuring data integrity, and contributing to innovative projects that leverage cloud technologies and machine learning. This position provides a unique blend of technical challenge, collaborative teamwork, and professional development within a global organization that balances startup agility with the stability of a well-established enterprise.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in data engineering and cloud technologies, with the following qualifications:

• Proficiency in SQL Server 2014 or later, with extensive experience in writing complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Solid understanding of the MSSQL BI Stack, including SSRS and SSIS, to support business reporting and data integration.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly GCP, BigQuery, and Looker, with a willingness to learn and grow within cloud environments.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as GitLab or equivalent tools for source code management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex data issues efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Prior experience in data automation, process optimization, or related fields is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of regulatory data projects, from requirements gathering through to deployment and maintenance.
• Design, develop, and maintain robust T-SQL stored procedures and SSRS reports to support core business operations and regulatory compliance.
• Shadow senior colleagues to gain hands-on experience with GCP environments, progressing towards independent cloud development capabilities.
• Leverage AI-powered tools proactively to accelerate development cycles, automate repetitive tasks, and enhance coding efficiency.
• Investigate and resolve complex data issues, ensuring high levels of data integrity and minimal disruption to critical processes.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business units, to provide project updates and manage timelines effectively.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of data standards, best practices, and knowledge sharing across the team to ensure consistency and quality in all data solutions.
