Role Overview:

We are looking for a data & control systems engineer intern to support launch and test operations and controls and automation.

Program Highlights:

  • Beckhoff PLCs or similar
  • Pressure transducers, temperature sensors, flowmeters, level switches, accelerometers, solenoid valves, VFDs, heaters, etc.
  • IP, SDI, and CoaXPress cameras
  • Gain hands-on experience with control hardware, data acquisition equipment, and instrumentation integration
  • Solve diverse technical challenges that vary in complexity, scope, and long-term impact

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, integrate, and test acquisition hardware, instrumentation, and cameras used to support and control the company's Terran R rocket test stands
  • Design and maintain electrical systems for use in hazardous areas
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and technicians to support and execute projects
  • Collaborate on projects such as building DAQ cabinets, configuring instrumentation, and developing actuator control systems

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Bachelors in either Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated electrical engineering fundamental knowledge
  • Demonstrated capability in completing a complex project, coordinating with others and meeting deadlines
  • Collaborative, curious, and eager to gain hands-on experience building and improving test stand hardware and controls
  • No previous aerospace experience is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data and control systems (SCADA, PLC’s, NI, Beckhoff, etc.)
  • Familiar with integrating sensors and actuators such as pressure transducers, RTDs, strain gages, thermocouples, solenoid valves, accelerometers, microphones, etc.
  • Familiar with communications methods such as Ethernet, EtherCAT, CAN, and Modbus.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience designing custom PCBs and using tools such as Altium Designer.
  • Programming skills for data acquisition and control systems (e.g., Python, MATLAB, TwinCAT, or C/C++).
  • Familiarity with actuator systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical controls.

Compensation:

The compensation for this role is $34–42 per hour.
