Position Overview
The Metropolitan Technician (Metro Tech) supports and maintains critical data center operations for Cloudflare facilities located in Los Angeles. This role is responsible for supporting IT systems, network services, infrastructure deployments, troubleshooting activities, inventory management, and operational support within mission-critical data center environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Support data center operations, network services, and business-critical systems.
• Install, rack, stack, and deploy servers, switches, routers, and network hardware.
• Perform software and firmware upgrades on network equipment.
• Run, verify, and test patch cables and structured cabling paths.
• Execute basic network configuration and troubleshooting activities.
• Support infrastructure maintenance and break-fix activities.
• Maintain inventory accuracy using DCIM tools such as NetBox.
• Coordinate cross-connect installations and vendor activities.
• Process shipments, maintain storage areas, and ensure cleanliness within cages/racks.
• Perform audits related to hardware, circuits, power, and capacity.
• Manage support tickets end-to-end using systems such as JIRA.
• Travel to nearby sites as needed to support operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
• 3–4 years of remote hands or data center experience.
• Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Infinera, and Ciena hardware and operating systems.
• Understanding of data center environments and cable management best practices.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong multitasking and project coordination abilities.
• Experience leading projects and working autonomously.
• Experience with ticketing tools such as JIRA and DCIM systems such as NetBox.
• Ability to perform basic server diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
• ITIL and/or CCNA certifications.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs (25 kg).
• Access to reliable transportation for travel between metro-area sites.
• Experience planning and executing network deployments.
Work Expectations
• Availability during standard business hours and flexibility for after-hours maintenance windows.
• Ability to respond onsite within designated response times when required.
• Adherence to all data center safety, security, and operational procedures.
• Maintain professionalism while supporting mission-critical infrastructure operations.

Compensation & Benefits Disclosure
The base salary range for this role is $36.00 per hour. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by job‑related factors consistent with applicable law.
