Data Center Engineer (North/Central New Jersey) (B1A5913)

Referment is working with an investment and technology organisation seeking a Data Center Engineer to support the critical infrastructure behind its global operations.

This is a practical, hands-on position covering data centres, colocation facilities and internal equipment rooms. You will work across the operational lifecycle, from installing hardware and cabling through troubleshooting, capacity planning and improving the processes used to run resilient sites.

The role is based at data-centre sites in New Jersey, with occasional visits across the New York metropolitan area. Some evening and weekend work is required, so reliable transport and flexibility are important.

The Role

• Coordinate day-to-day operations across data-centre sites and keep work prioritised effectively.
• Build, install and troubleshoot servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and copper and fibre cabling.
• Support data-centre buildouts, migrations and infrastructure projects.
• Manage site capacity and contribute to forecasts for future infrastructure requirements.
• Improve operating processes, policies and automation.
• Work with internal teams and external vendors to deliver projects.

What We're Looking For

• Two to seven years of relevant infrastructure, systems or data-centre experience.
• Hands-on systems administration, particularly server hardware and troubleshooting.
• Strong organisation, judgement and attention to detail.
• Clear communication and collaboration skills.
• Flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends, plus reliable transport.

Desirable Experience

Exposure to data-centre buildouts or migrations, liquid cooling, power balancing, structured cabling or infrastructure automation would be valuable. Financial-services experience may help but is not required.

This could suit a data-centre technician or engineer, systems engineer, or infrastructure specialist who enjoys combining hands-on hardware work with operational planning and process improvement.
