Data Architect (Databricks)

One of our clients is looking for an experienced Data Architect – Databricks | USA (Remote) for a full-time/contract opportunity.

• Must Have Keywords: Databricks, Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture, DBT, PySpark, Azure Data Factory.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in Data Engineering / Data Architecture.
• 5+ years of hands-on Databricks experience with enterprise-level architecture and implementation.
• Strong experience designing end-to-end Databricks data architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog, including catalogs, schemas, external locations, storage credentials, permissions, and governance.
• Strong understanding of Databricks Compute, including job clusters, all-purpose/serverless compute, autoscaling, cluster configuration, and cost optimization.
• Strong hands-on experience with Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and its implementation, benefits, and limitations.
• Proven experience with On-Prem to Databricks migration, including data, ETL/ELT pipelines, and workloads.
• Strong experience with Delta Lake, including Delta tables, ACID transactions, schema evolution, time travel, and optimization.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Spark, PySpark, SQL, and Python.
• Strong hands-on experience with dbt (Data Build Tool) for data transformation, modeling, testing, documentation, and ELT workflows.
• Strong experience with Azure Databricks, ADLS Gen2, and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Strong understanding of Data Modeling, including Star Schema and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with Databricks performance tuning and cost optimization.
• Strong understanding of Databricks security, governance, and access control.
• Practical experience with AI/ML capabilities and tools within the Databricks ecosystem.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical architecture and design decisions.
