Job Title: Data Analytics Specialist
Duration: 20 Months
Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho
Short Summary about Job:
This position supports the Contact-Handled (CH) Transuranic (TRU) Waste Program, performing Process Knowledge (PK) and Acceptable Knowledge (AK) activities. The Data Analytics Specialist will work with collaborating teams to extract, analyze, and summarize data from multiple production, historic, and document databases in support of investigations, issue resolution, and document generation. Essential duties include writing and running SQL scripts to extract data; cleaning and formatting data using Microsoft Excel and Access; creating clear documentation; evaluating containers to qualify them for specific treatment processes and waste streams; interpreting requirements such as the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria/Permit and regulations such as RCRA and TSCA; initiating Nonconformance Reports; supporting the annual WIPP audit; and interfacing with internal groups and external DOE organizations, including the Carlsbad Field Office (CBFO) and DOE Idaho, to facilitate incoming waste shipments. The successful candidate must be capable of qualifying as a WIPP AK Expert (AKE), responsible for evaluating and documenting historical information from waste generators at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) as well as off-site generators who transferred TRU waste to INL.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in data analytics, or bachelor's degree in science or mathematics with at least four (4) years of applicable data analytics experience
- Experience with data analysis and data wrangling
- Knowledge of SQL and its use in data access (or equivalent) and analysis
- Experience writing database queries using Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) or Oracle SQL
- Experience using Microsoft Access
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong knowledge of document generation and Microsoft Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills; proven ability to handle multiple priorities/projects and to receive and respond to feedback
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple teams
- Must be able to obtain a Q Clearance
- Must be capable of qualifying as a WIPP AK Expert (AKE)
