- Role Overview
- We are seeking an experienced Data & Analytics Architect / Technical Lead to lead the modernization of an enterprise analytics platform using the Databricks Lakehouse Platform on AWS and Tableau. This role will define the architecture roadmap, design scalable cloud-native solutions, build data pipelines, and guide adoption of modern AI-enabled data engineering practices across business-critical analytics initiatives.
- Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Strategy
- Define and own the enterprise Data & Analytics architecture roadmap.
- Lead modernization from legacy BI and reporting platforms, including MicroStrategy, to Databricks and Tableau.
- Design scalable Lakehouse architectures using Databricks, Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture, Unity Catalog, and AWS-native services.
- Support future-state capabilities across data engineering, AI/ML, agentic AI, self-service analytics, governance, and data products.
- Technical Leadership
- Serve as technical lead across multiple workstreams.
- Drive solution architecture decisions and technical governance.
- Conduct architecture reviews and establish development standards.
- Mentor data engineers, analytics engineers, and BI developers.
- Partner closely with business stakeholders and executive sponsors.
- Data Engineering & Platform Development
- Design, build, and optimize scalable ingestion, transformation, semantic, streaming, and batch data workloads.
- Develop Spark/PySpark, SQL, and Delta Live Tables pipelines.
- Build reusable frameworks and drive performance, reliability, observability, and cost optimization.
- Data Integration
- Lead ingestion and integration across multiple enterprise source systems:
- Integrate enterprise source systems including Oracle ERP/JDE, SQL Server, Salesforce/CRM, manufacturing, supply chain, flat files, external feeds, and legacy data platforms.
- Analytics & BI Modernization
- Architect governed semantic models for Tableau.
- Lead migration of reports and datasets from MicroStrategy.
- Design executive, operational, and self-service reporting solutions.
- Enable business-friendly data products and enterprise self-service analytics.
- AI & Agentic Data Engineering
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled engineering capabilities including:
- Apply practical AI-enabled engineering capabilities such as agentic AI, AI-assisted code generation, metadata discovery, lineage automation, data quality automation, observability, intelligent testing, CI/CD automation, and GenAI-powered data access patterns.
- Candidates should demonstrate practical implementation experience rather than conceptual familiarity.
- DevOps / DataOps / CI-CD
- Establish modern DataOps practices.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data platform deployments.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and environment promotion strategies.
- Leverage Git-based development workflows.
- Automate testing, deployment, code quality, and release processes.
- Required Qualifications
- Experience
- 10+ years in Data & Analytics architecture and engineering, including 5+ years leading enterprise-scale cloud data platforms.
- Proven experience as a Data Architect, Lead Architect, Principal Engineer, or Technical Lead.
- Demonstrated success leading modernization programs and translating business goals into technical roadmaps.
- Cloud & Data Platforms
- Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Hands-on expertise with Databricks Lakehouse, AWS, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Spark/PySpark, SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, and Lakehouse architecture.
- Reporting & Visualization
- Experience with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server/Cloud, enterprise dashboard design, and self-service analytics enablement.
- Database & Source Systems
- Experience with:
- Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Salesforce/CRM, JDE/ERP, and legacy BI ecosystems including MicroStrategy.
- DevOps & Automation
- Experience with:
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or equivalent tools, Terraform/IaC, monitoring, and operationalization frameworks.
- Programming
- Strong proficiency in:
- Strong proficiency in SQL, PySpark, Python, and Spark SQL.
- Understanding of KPIs and analytics related to:
- Understanding of analytics and KPIs across procurement, supplier performance, inventory, demand planning, manufacturing, margin/cost analysis, and operational efficiency.
- Executive & Communication Skills
- Executive-level communication, stakeholder management, consulting, workshop facilitation, requirements discovery, and architecture documentation skills.
- The Ideal Candidate
- Strategic, hands-on Databricks leader who can architect, build, troubleshoot, modernize BI platforms, influence executives, and guide onshore/offshore teams from strategy through implementation.
- Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
