# PRINCIPAL DATA ANALYST

## About the Role

Apex Systems is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to serve as a **Medicaid Subject Matter Expert (SME)** supporting the Illinois Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) project. This role provides strategic guidance for the implementation and ongoing operations of a large-scale Medicaid data warehouse, helping technical and business teams use healthcare data effectively and maintain compliance with CMS standards.

The successful candidate will bring deep knowledge of Medicaid programs, claims processing, eligibility, provider data, and enterprise healthcare analytics. You will lead stakeholder discussions, translate complex Medicaid processes into actionable solutions, support analytics and reporting, and communicate effectively with executive-level clients.

## Key Responsibilities

• - Provide strategic direction and recommendations for Medicaid data warehouse implementation and operations.
• - Lead internal and external stakeholders in resolving complex processes involving claims adjudication, eligibility, and third-party liability.
• - Identify state Medicaid agency data needs and propose validated solutions, including proof of concepts.
• - Guide technical and business teams on healthcare data utilization and industry best practices.
• - Recommend enhancements based on Medicaid standards, policies, and industry best practices.
• - Support development of dashboards, data visualizations, and decision-support tools.
• - Gather stakeholder requirements and deliver critical analytics and reports.

## Required Qualifications

• - **10+ years of experience in Information Technology.**
• - **5+ years of experience working directly with or for State Medicaid agencies.**
• - Expert knowledge of **Medicaid and CHIP programs**, including claims, eligibility, and provider enrollment processes.
• - Strong knowledge of **CMS reporting requirements**.
• - Proficiency in **SQL and Excel** for analysis of large datasets.
• - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• - Strong presentation skills and experience communicating with **executives and directors**.
• - Ability to travel to **Springfield, IL 3–4 times per year**.
