About The Role

Norstella’s Real-World Data (RWD) team is seeking a skilled RWD Data Analyst to join our remote team in the United States. This mid-level position is ideal for professionals with demonstrated expertise in analyzing healthcare data sources, including claims, electronic health records (EHR/EMR), laboratory data, and unstructured data derived from natural language processing (NLP). The successful candidate will serve as a technical advisor, providing critical evaluations of data sources, methodological recommendations, and analytical strategies. They will work closely with internal teams and clients to translate complex requirements into effective data solutions, ensuring technical accuracy and clinical relevance. This role demands a combination of technical proficiency, critical thinking, and a consultative approach to foster innovative data strategies and deliver high-quality insights that support strategic decision-making in healthcare and pharmaceutical development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience working with real-world healthcare data
  • Deep understanding of RWD source types including claims, EHR/EMR, laboratory, and unstructured data
  • Proficiency in SQL with the ability to develop complex multi-table queries
  • Experience investigating unstructured or semi-structured EMR data to identify viable variables
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data source suitability and formulate data-driven recommendations
  • Experience with AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT or Claude for accelerating data development
  • Familiarity with the drug development lifecycle and the life sciences industry
  • Experience working with vendor data products and understanding data delivery formats
  • Proficiency with version control systems in collaborative environments
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on real-world data source types, understanding their strengths, limitations, and optimal applications
  • Evaluate client requirements and formulate clear recommendations on data source selection, variable construction, and inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Advise on vendor data structures, delivery formats, and translating source characteristics into actionable insights
  • Design and develop client-specific data extracts, ensuring accuracy, reproducibility, and maintainability
  • Translate real-world data requirements into production-quality SQL logic for data extraction and structuring
  • Partner with client-facing teams to understand client needs, communicate methodological decisions, and manage expectations
  • Identify potential data quality issues and downstream risks proactively, proposing solutions to mitigate impact
  • Leverage AI tools to support artifact generation, streamline workflows, and solve complex analytical challenges
  • Collaborate with analytics, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure shared understanding and documentation of data processes
  • Contribute to team knowledge sharing, documentation, and continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in product development discussions to enhance data offerings and meet evolving industry and client needs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support team objectives and project success
