About The Role
- We are seeking a Director of Real-World Data & Epidemiology (RWD & Epi) Analytics to provide strategic leadership in the design, execution, and communication of observational and epidemiological studies using diverse real-world data sources. This role combines deep expertise in observational study design, advanced statistical analytics, data infrastructure, and AI-driven approaches to generate evidence that supports clinical development, market access, and health-policy decisions.
- Reporting to the Head of RWD & Epi Analytics within the Center for Outcomes Research, Real World Evidence and Epidemiology (CORE), the Director will work closely with cross-functional asset teams and lead initiatives spanning feasibility assessment, study design, data analysis, evidence generation, and final reporting. The role also provides an opportunity to mentor scientists and programmers, strengthen analytic governance, and scale innovative AI and data solutions across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Partner with CORE asset leaders to design, execute, and report observational and epidemiological studies across assigned assets and indications.
- Conduct feasibility assessments and identify appropriate real-world data sources, including claims, EHRs, registries, and patient-generated data.
- Provide expertise in observational study design, epidemiological methods, and real-world evidence generation.
- Collaborate on survival and economic modeling activities supporting health technology assessment and market access initiatives.
- Manage study execution activities, including table shells, analytic datasets, analysis plans, statistical programming, and quality control.
- Apply advanced statistical methods such as survival analysis, regression analysis, inverse probability of treatment weighting, matching-adjusted indirect comparisons, and causal inference.
- Present study designs, interim analyses, and final findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex analyses into actionable insights.
- Evaluate emerging data sources such as social determinants of health, genomics, biomarkers, and clinical notes for incorporation into evidence-generation strategies.
- Lead pilots and scale successful artificial intelligence applications across RWD and epidemiology analytics.
- Define evidence needs, establish realistic timelines, and manage expectations with cross-functional asset leaders.
- Mentor and coach RWD and epidemiology scientists and programmers, supporting technical development, analytical capabilities, and critical thinking.
- Establish standardized processes and governance for study execution, data management, documentation, and analytical quality.
- Partner with Data, Digital & AI teams to enhance analytics infrastructure, streamline data pipelines, improve reproducibility, and maintain data security and compliance.
- Contribute to CORE department strategy and represent the function on strategic cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in real-world evidence generation and epidemiology analytics.
- Extensive expertise in observational study design and advanced statistical methodologies.
- Strong experience evaluating and analyzing real-world claims and EHR data.
- Hands-on statistical programming experience using SAS, R, and/or Python.
- Experience with AI and machine learning frameworks applied to real-world data analytics.
- Strong understanding of survival analysis, regression modeling, IPTW, MAIC, causal inference, and related methods.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex analytical projects and work across cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, stakeholder-management, and influencing skills.
- Strong commercial and clinical strategic mindset.
- Demonstrated research accomplishments, preferably supported by peer-reviewed publications.
- Oncology experience is preferred.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines.
- Proactive, enthusiastic, goal-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
