About The Role

The Staff Data Analyst will be an integral member of the Block Compliance Analytics team, which is focused on placing data at the core of the Compliance organization. This role requires a proven track record in Financial Crimes and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) domains. The successful candidate will develop strategic initiatives and lead key workstreams to deliver actionable insights to leadership across the organization. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating the story of our Compliance program to regulators and external stakeholders. Your focus will be on quantifying compliance risks, enhancing operational effectiveness, and supporting Block’s vision to redefine the global financial landscape. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence compliance strategies through data-driven decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree; or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of Compliance/AML experience
  • Expert proficiency in SQL and data analysis/visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
  • Extensive experience in ETL development and data pipeline management
  • Proven ability to solve large, complex problems using technical expertise
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to navigate fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly
  • Impeccable attention to detail and polished presentation style

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of data strategies for regulatory engagements, including ETL processes and source data validation
  • Connect regulatory expectations and commitments with the Compliance and Product roadmaps to influence strategic planning
  • Utilize raw data to educate internal teams and external partners on the impact of new regulations, policies, or environmental changes
  • Collaborate closely with legal, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to inform the strategic design of compliance program elements
  • Establish yourself as a thought leader by translating insights into actionable recommendations through effective communication and stakeholder alignment
  • Leverage subject matter expertise to educate, coach, and influence internal teams and external partners, contributing to the long-term success of Block
  • Manage multiple high-impact workstreams, demonstrating the ability to operate across different levels of abstraction in communication
