Data Analyst

Data Analyst:

• Duties
• Job Summary:
• Supports the work of the team by gathering, interpreting, and presenting data. The role will develop computational tools and lead analyses that provide insight for enterprise-wide projects.

Data Mining, Analysis, and Reporting:

• -With some supervision, meets with hospital leadership and/or project sponsors and stakeholders to understand business needs and context for data requirements.
• -Consults and understands business needs and transforms business questions into data-driven, analytical questions to clarify, quantify, or further support business needs.
• -Gathers information and data from disparate teams, groups, sources, and systems to obtain necessary details to support the Team's initiatives.
• -Independently queries, manages, and performs quality assurance on data related to analyses.
• -Identifies and documents anomalies and discrepancies in data or data relationships found during analysis.
• -Creates presentations, reports, dashboards, and other communication tools to keep institutional leaders and stakeholders abreast of project status or to support their work product.
• -Reviews operational and/or financial processes to supplement and contextualize data analyses.

Collaboration, Planning, and Coordination:

• -Presents results of analysis performed to a wide variety of differing audiences, translating technical and detailed data into action plans and/or recommendations.
• -Works collaboratively with other data analysts, project managers, and process engineers, reviewing work and contemplating ideas.
• -Manages cross-functional relationships to navigate disparate and complex data sets.

Liaison/Communications:

• -Initiates and maintains continual dialogue with internal stakeholders regarding project scope/details, directions, tasks, and timeline—ensuring all parties are on the same page.
• -Provides clear, concise, and comprehensive verbal and written communication to internal MSKCC stakeholders, including senior leadership, administrative management, physician leaders, and staff.
• -Communicates effectively with all levels of management, hospital administration, and creates executive-level dashboards to simplify conclusions around complex data sets.

• Skills
• Required Skills & Experience:
• -Two (2)-Four (4) years of experience using a scripting language (e.g., R, Python, Stata) to create reproducible analyses and extract data.
• -Two (2) plus years of experience using SQL to query large relational databases.
• -Ability to develop, collect, and interpret data from large, complex data sources.
• -Effectively translates, visualizes, and communicates detailed analyses to all levels of the organization (including executive leadership).
• -Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access.
• -Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• -Excellent team and collaboration skills.
• -Strong analytical skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• -Two (2)-Four (4) years of Clinical Research or other Healthcare experience.
• -Familiarity with Git/GitHub.
• -Intermediate understanding of project management, process improvement, and/or Change Management frameworks is.
• -Familiarity and experience with Cognos, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or other Business Intelligence platforms.
• -Financial acumen and experience working with financial data.

• Education
• Required Education:
• -Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Operations, Engineering, or other quantitative field.
• OR
• -Four (4) years of job-related work experience can be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Education:

-Master's Degree.
