Data Analyst / Data Engineer

Overview

• We are looking for a Data Analyst / Data Engineer to support the US Credit Cards portfolio within North American Retail Payments program. This role owns the data and reporting scope across multiple projects, working closely with business stakeholders and project delivery teams to design, build, and maintain data solutions and reporting using SQL, Power BI, ETL tools, and Microsoft Power Platform.
• You will translate business reporting needs into data models, mappings, and automated workflows that enable accurate, timely insight for product and portfolio decisions.
• Key Responsibilities
• Act as the data and reporting owner for assigned projects within the D1 / credit portfolio.
• Partner with business product owners to:
• Understand reporting and analytics requirements.
• Identify appropriate data sources and define required data elements.
• Perform data mapping between source systems and reporting layers; ensure data is accurate, consistent, and well-documented.
• Design and build Power BI reports and dashboards to support portfolio, product, and operational reporting needs.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes to move and transform data between platforms:
• Work with existing ETL on Netezza.
• Support or contribute toward migration to AWS Redshift.
• Implement and maintain process automation using:
• Power Automate (workflows, approvals, data refreshes, alerts).
• Power Apps (simple data capture or workflow interfaces where needed).
• Collaborate closely with:
• Project delivery leads / PMs to align on scope, milestones, and dependencies.
• Solution architects and Java/API teams to understand upstream data flows and ensure downstream reporting is feasible and robust.
• Contribute to data quality, validation, and reconciliation checks for key reports.
• Produce clear documentation (data mappings, report specs, process flows) to support knowledge transfer and ongoing maintenance.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting support for stakeholders as needed.

• Must-Have Qualifications
• Strong SQL skills:
• Demonstrated experience writing complex queries, joins, aggregations, and performance-tuned SQL.
• Experience working with large, relational datasets in an enterprise environment.
• Hands-on Power BI experience:
• Building interactive reports and dashboards end-to-end (data model, measures, visuals, filters).
• Familiarity with DAX and data modeling best practices.
• ETL / data pipeline experience:
• Hands-on experience designing or maintaining ETL processes (extract, transform, load).
• Experience on platforms such as Netezza, or similar MPP/data warehouse technologies.
• Experience working on multi-project or portfolio environments:
• Supporting multiple initiatives concurrently.
• Managing competing priorities and deadlines.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills:
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear data and reporting specifications.
• Comfortable working directly with business product owners and project leads.
• Experience in a structured, enterprise environment (ideally financial services, banking, or similar).

• Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Experience with AWS data stack, especially:
• AWS Redshift (or similar cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Exposure to data migrations from on-prem/legacy warehouses to cloud.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform:
• Power Automate – building workflows, approvals, and integrations across systems.
• Power Apps – creating simple apps to streamline data collection and internal processes.
• Experience supporting credit cards / payments / retail banking products or portfolios.
• Familiarity with working alongside API / Java development teams and understanding how upstream systems feed reporting layers.
• Exposure to data governance, data quality frameworks, or regulatory reporting in a financial environment.
