Role Description This part-time remote Cybersecurity Analyst / Engineer role focuses on supporting security initiatives across applications, networks, and systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring security events, investigating potential threats, and performing initial triage and analysis of incidents. The role involves contributing to application and network security reviews, assisting in malware analysis, and documenting findings and recommendations in clear, actionable reports. The Cybersecurity Analyst / Engineer will collaborate with other community members and stakeholders to share insights, improve security practices, and support ongoing research and knowledge-sharing activities.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Cybersecurity and Analytical Skills to assess risks, interpret security data, and support incident response.
Candidates should possess Application Security skills to help evaluate, secure, and improve the security posture of software and services.
Candidates should possess Network Security skills to monitor, analyze, and protect network infrastructure and traffic.
Candidates should possess Malware Analysis skills to assist in identifying, classifying, and understanding malicious code and related threats.
Additional beneficial qualifications include familiarity with security tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS), knowledge of common security frameworks and standards, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.
Relevant certifications (such as Security+, CEH, or similar), prior experience in information security, and a demonstrated interest in continuous learning and community engagement are advantageous.
