About The Role

The Cyber Security Analyst role at Genesis10 is a remote position based in Akron, Ohio, with a focus on maintaining and enhancing the company's cybersecurity posture within a major utility organization. This position is a contract opportunity lasting over six months, with an hourly pay range of $36.00 to $46.00. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the corporate Cyber Security Program, ensuring the protection of all cyber assets, and maintaining compliance with industry standards such as NERC CIP. The role involves developing security baselines, consulting with business units on security measures for both on-premise and cloud-based solutions, and participating in incident response activities. The position requires a proactive approach to vulnerability management, security awareness training, and supporting cybersecurity capital projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently within a team environment.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; however, relevant industry experience in lieu of formal education will also be considered. A minimum of four to seven years of professional experience in cybersecurity or a related IT discipline with significant security responsibilities is required. Effective communication skills are essential, including the ability to create and deliver presentations, briefs, and training sessions, as well as translating technical findings into understandable reports and action plans. The ability to collaborate effectively across various organizational levels and work independently within set objectives is crucial. Candidates should be prepared to participate in an on-call rotation, respond to out-of-hours alerts, and travel frequently within the Akron area, with occasional overnight trips. Preferred skills include hands-on experience in operating and administering standard IT disciplines such as Windows, Linux/Unix, and Networking, along with security certifications like CISSP or GIAC GSEC.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the Cyber Security Program to safeguard all corporate cyber assets.
• Ensure compliance with NERC CIP standards, specifically protecting the Bulk Electric System.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to develop and maintain security baselines, procedures, and strategies that effectively mitigate cyber risks.
• Consult with Business Units and IT teams during the design and deployment of on-premise and cloud/SaaS systems to implement security measures.
• Participate actively in the Cyber Incident Response process to address security breaches and vulnerabilities.
• Assist in developing, updating, and delivering Security Awareness Training programs to promote cybersecurity best practices across the organization.
• Manage vulnerability assessment processes, oversee patch management lifecycle, and perform vulnerability scans on systems and services.
• Support cybersecurity capital projects by evaluating vendor solutions and assisting with the implementation of security devices and tools.
