Job Description
Our client, a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier, is seeking a Customs Analyst to support import/export compliance and trade operations in Spartanburg, SC. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs regulations, managing documentation, and supporting cross-functional teams with duty optimization and compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of customs regulations, HTS classification, and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and import/export requirements
- Perform and maintain accurate HTS classification, valuation, and country-of-origin determinations
- Review and validate shipping documentation (invoices, packing lists, transport documents)
- Collaborate with customs brokers to ensure accurate and timely declarations
- Manage import/export documentation, including USMCA certificates and origin documentation
- Prepare and track filings within CBP systems (ACE portal)
- Support duty optimization strategies, including tariff programs and trade agreements
- Conduct post-entry corrections and support compliance audits
- Partner with supply chain, purchasing, and logistics teams on customs-related activities
- Provide reporting and analysis to support business decisions and compliance initiatives
- Support continuous improvement and ensure adherence to IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in customs compliance, import/export, or related role
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and trade compliance
- Experience with CBP systems (ACE portal) and ABI filing preferred
- Experience in the automotive industry
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Customs Broker License preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
