Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Crude Operations Support Analyst to support a prestigious client in the energy trading industry. This opportunity places professionals within a large-scale Crude Trading Operations organization responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of crude oil transactions from purchase through final settlement. The Crude Operations Support Analyst will own the molecule by developing a deep understanding of crude movements, contractual terms, pricing structures, pipeline activity, inventory balances, and commercial impacts while ensuring accurate settlements across high-volume operations.

Responsibilities

  • Record and track the physical movement of crude oil from purchase through final destination.
  • Reconcile and settle crude transactions accurately and on schedule.
  • Analyze crude movement data to identify discrepancies and prevent profit leakage.
  • Verify allocated volumes, revisions, inventory balances, and pipeline statements.
  • Interpret contractual terms, complex pricing structures, quality banks, and transportation activities.
  • Research and resolve unsettled items within LPS, Endur, and TSAP.
  • Reconcile inventory balances against third-party statements.
  • Analyze quarterly quality bank statements and complex accounting transactions.
  • Support financial close by reviewing significant differences between forecasted and actual volumes.
  • Resolve volumetric discrepancies through detailed root-cause analysis.
  • Pursue collections for disputed receivables and analyze outstanding payables when required.
  • Manage settlements involving approximately 25 million barrels of crude purchases and sales each month.
  • Support transaction activity across more than 3,000 locations, including pipelines, railcars, trucks, barges, and storage facilities.
  • Process settlements involving approximately 500 counterparties.
  • Work additional hours during monthly close and periods of increased commercial activity as business needs require.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of Crude industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with crude settlements is required.
  • Experience supporting Canadian crude transactions is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Canadian crude movements, shipper balances, m3 measurement, and CAD and USD transactions.
  • Experience reconciling crude inventory balances, pipeline statements, allocated volumes, and settlement discrepancies.
  • Understanding of crude transportation through pipelines, railcars, trucks, and barges.
  • Experience interpreting crude contracts, pricing structures, and quality bank processes.
  • Proficiency using LPS, Endur, TSAP, or similar commodity trading and settlement systems.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • Ability to perform detailed reconciliations, investigate root causes, and support financial close activities.
