- Cost Analyst
- Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania (3 days in office)
Piper Maddox is partnering with a rapidly growing developer and EPC contractor to hire a Cost Analyst to support major utility-scale energy infrastructure projects across the U.S.
They are backed by a 100+ year-old family-owned organization and have industry roots and approximately 275 employees operating across 17 states. The company is expanding across transmission, substations, distribution, solar, and BESS projects, with a strong presence in New York and long-term utility programs.
This position reports to the Project Controls Manager and will be embedded within major utility projects, working closely with PPL stakeholders and their systems and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage cost analysis, reporting, and financial tracking for large-scale energy projects, including transmission, distribution, T&D, and substations
- Support project accruals, forecasting, budgeting, and cost governance processes
- Monitor project performance and identify cost trends, risks, and variances
- Support project in-service and closeout activities
- Partner with project managers, engineers, finance, and operations teams to maintain accurate project financials
- Learn and utilize proprietary utility systems, reporting tools, and processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement across project controls and cost management
- Mentor and support junior cost analysts as the team continues to grow
Requirements:
- 8+ years of relevant experience in cost analysis, project controls, accounting, or a related field
- Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and cost reporting
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, utility, energy, or construction projects
- Familiarity with project cost management and reporting systems
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and utility-side stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with at least 3 days per week in the Allentown office
- Experience with a utility, IPP, developer, or EPC contractor
- Experience with PPL or other utility systems and processes
- Background supporting transmission, distribution, substations, solar, BESS, wind, or other energy infrastructure
- Experience contributing to project execution beyond traditional accounting responsibilities
- Prior experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
- U.S. citizenship required
