Position Description
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Development, the Analyst will play a key role in supporting the corporate development team in identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic initiatives that align with the company's overall objectives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to drive business development efforts, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic projects.
The role will be full time and based in Vancouver, BC (hybrid).
Responsibilities
- Prepare and reconcile monthly and quarterly capital expenditure (Capex) materials for the Board of Directors.
- Evaluate the financial feasibility of Capex investments and strategic initiatives by preparing business cases and performing return analysis, including IRR and NPV.
- Build, update, and perform ad-hoc analysis on company forecasts and financial models, interpreting financial statements to assess operational performance and health.
- Maintain the public comparables analysis and conduct market research to analyze industry trends, risks, and competitor profiles.
- Assist in updating investor decks and strategic presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate tasks and deliverables with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather required data, align on strategic initiatives, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate in key meetings and negotiations, and complete other duties as assigned.
- Provide foundational research, financial modelling, and due diligence support on opportunistic mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnership initiatives as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, or Private Equity, with exposure to three-statement financial modelling.
- A CPA, CFA, or CBV designation (or active progress toward completion) is considered a strong asset.
- Strong foundational knowledge of finance and accounting principles, specifically in evaluating capital expenditures (Capex), return analysis (IRR, NPV), and corporate forecasting.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse quantitative data and support the creation of well-structured financial models.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to share findings clearly with team members.
- Collaborative team player who works effectively across departments to gather information and support project goals.
- Detail-oriented and resourceful, with a proactive approach to solving problems and learning new concepts.
- Basic knowledge of corporate development, with any exposure to M&A processes, valuations, or due diligence considered an asset.
- Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to build functional models and distil financial analysis into clear, well-formatted reports and presentation materials for senior leadership.
Salary & Benefits
- The salary for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 annually. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
