2. About the Opportunity:

The Clinical Data Analyst role is responsible for coding and abstracting diagnoses and procedures from inpatient and outpatient medical records. This position ensures accurate clinical data capture to support timely reimbursement and quality reporting. The role contributes directly to the integrity of medical records and the financial health of the organization by maintaining coding accuracy and compliance.

3. Responsibilities:

  • Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRGs for inpatient accounts; assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes for outpatient accounts
  • Abstract key data elements necessary for billing
  • Review records for clinical relevance
  • Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and provide education
  • Abstract and code records for patients currently hospitalized for interim billing
  • Review records to identify cases for physician review based on criteria
  • Communicate with medical staff to ensure proper assignment of diagnoses and procedures
  • Maintain continuing education credits as required by professional standards

4. Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree
  • Certification as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT coding systems, DRG systems, and reimbursement regulations
  • Familiarity with hospital information systems, electronic medical records, encoders, and JCAHO chart completion standards
  • Understanding of medical-legal confidentiality rules and ability to maintain patient record confidentiality
  • Experience with personal computers

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
