- Job Summary
- We are seeking a CATIA V5 Data Management / Fixture Design Engineer to support Honda’s Body-in-White (BIW) engineering group. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with CATIA V5 and previous experience designing automotive fixtures, welding fixtures, or assembly line tooling.
- This role will primarily focus on reviewing and validating fixture design data received from suppliers, ensuring the designs are accurate, complete, and aligned with engineering requirements. Experience with BIW welding fixtures is highly preferred.
- Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate fixture design data and CAD links received from suppliers.
- Open and inspect supplier-provided fixture design links/models using CATIA V5.
- Verify that fixture designs are accurate and meet specified engineering requirements.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, design issues, or inconsistencies in supplier CAD data.
- Support the Body-in-White (BIW) engineering and manufacturing teams with fixture design activities.
- Review and evaluate welding fixtures, assembly fixtures, checking fixtures, and production tooling.
- Perform 3D CAD modeling, design reviews, and design modifications using CATIA V5.
- Review fixture components such as locating pins, clamps, supports, bases, risers, and other tooling elements.
- Work with suppliers and internal engineering teams to resolve fixture design issues.
- Ensure fixture designs are suitable for automotive assembly and welding processes.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and supplier design documentation.
- Maintain accurate engineering and CAD data while supporting design changes and revisions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling, supplier quality, and engineering teams.
- Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on CATIA V5 experience.
- Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 for 3D modeling and design review.
- Previous experience with fixture design, tooling design, or assembly line equipment.
- Experience with welding fixtures is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting Body-in-White (BIW) manufacturing is a strong advantage.
- Ability to review and validate supplier CAD/design data.
- Good understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of basic GD&T and tolerance concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify design discrepancies.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Preferred Experience
- Candidates with experience at automotive tooling, automation, or manufacturing companies are highly desirable, particularly backgrounds involving:
