About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Global Tax Lead to join Moody's SAP Center of Excellence team. This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing the company's global tax technology landscape, with a focus on SAP and Vertex O Series integrations. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of accountability for global tax processes, ensuring accurate tax determination, reporting, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions. This position involves hands-on configuration, support, and enhancement of tax systems, including SAP S/4 HANA and Vertex O Series. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Tax, Finance, IT, and external consultants to implement scalable, compliant, and automated tax solutions. The candidate will also oversee tax-related audits, reconcilements, and ensure adherence to SOX and change management controls. Additionally, the role offers an opportunity to leverage AI and automation tools to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency, contributing to Moody's ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or related fields
• Vertex O Series certification (preferred)
• SAP Financial Accounting certification (preferred)
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in Vertex O Series 9.0 implementation and support
• Extensive experience with SAP Financial Accounting, Vertex Accelerator, and Vertex O Series 8.0 and 9.0
• Proficiency in SAP integrations with Vertex, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Sales and Distribution, and Intercompany Invoicing
• Experience supporting global tax implementations across US, Canada, EMEA, APAC, LATAM, Brazil, and India
• Knowledge of Sales and Use Tax, VAT/GST, tax exemptions, multi-jurisdiction determination, and global tax matrices
• Experience with SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, e-invoicing, and country-specific mandates such as Peppol, LATAM, and India GST
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate technical concepts into business language
• Ability to lead projects, manage teams, and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines
• Demonstrated proficiency in AI concepts and experience applying AI tools in operational workflows
• Experience with change management, audit readiness, and compliance standards such as SOX

Responsibilities

• Act as the Global Tax lead, owning the accountability for all global tax technology processes and systems
• Implement, support, and configure Vertex O Series integration with SAP S/4 HANA, including tax procedures, condition tables, tax codes, and jurisdiction codes
• Design and support tax integration across key business cycles such as Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, and intercompany transactions
• Support global indirect tax requirements, including US Sales and Use Tax, EU VAT, APAC GST, and regional statutory compliance
• Configure, maintain, and validate SAP Integration Component tax mappings, exemption certificates, and jurisdiction setups
• Support Brazil tax compliance and ongoing updates; participate in Vertex upgrades, including impact assessment, testing, deployment, and post-production support
• Reconcile Vertex tax results with SAP General Ledger, supporting audits and maintaining audit trails
• Ensure compliance with SOX and IT change governance policies through documentation, testing, and controls
• Train and mentor Tax Super Users, Business Process Owners, and junior staff on tax systems and automation initiatives
• Drive automation and AI-enabled solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reduce manual effort in tax processes
