Business System Analyst

• This BSA will support the Corporate Business; for example HR and Finance. Experience with SAP is required.

Position Concept:

• Highly skilled Technical Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to join our utility company’s Technology PMO.
• This role is responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions within a large, complex enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IT project delivery, requirements traceability, test planning/execution, and technical mapping, along with the ability to work independently and at speed to gather and refine requirements.
• This individual will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive system enhancements, integrations, and implementations while ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory standards, and enterprise architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Requirements Gathering & Analysis
• Independently engage with business stakeholders to rapidly elicit, analyze, and document business and system requirements across multiple initiatives.
• Translate business needs into clear, detailed functional and technical specifications.
• Develop and maintain a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) to ensure full lifecycle traceability from requirements through development, testing, and deployment.
• Perform technical mapping of business processes to system capabilities, identifying gaps and recommending solutions.
• Assist with validation activities by contributing to test scenarios and scripts to confirm alignment with business requirements.

IT Project Delivery (Enterprise Environment):

• Contribute to large-scale IT projects and system implementations, following established SDLC or Agile frameworks.
• Act as a key liaison between business and IT teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of project milestones.
• Utilize tools such as Azure DevOps to manage backlogs, user stories, tasks, defects, and sprint activities.
• Support project planning activities, including scope definition, impact analysis, and risk identification.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of experience as a Technical Business Systems Analyst or similar role in a large enterprise IT environment.

Proven experience with:

• Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) development and management
• Writing test plans, test cases, and test scripts
• Technical mapping and process modeling
• Independent, fast-paced requirements gathering across multiple stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (or similar tools) for backlog and lifecycle management.
• Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).

Preferred:

• Experience in the utility or energy industry.
• Familiarity with Smartsheet, GIS systems, or energy management platforms.
• Experience supporting large-scale system implementations or digital transformation initiatives.
• Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or ITIL.
• Proficiency with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms).
