  • Position Summary
  • The Accounting Business Systems Analyst (BSA) serves as a key liaison between Accounting, Finance, Insurance Operations, and Technology teams. This role is responsible for analyzing business requirements, optimizing financial and insurance processes, supporting system implementations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting expertise, insurance industry knowledge, and experience with enterprise financial systems.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Business Analysis & Requirements Management
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, and Insurance Operations teams to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications, process flows, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyze insurance workflows including policy administration, premium billing, claims accounting, commissions, and reinsurance processes.
  • Systems Implementation & Support
  • Support implementation, configuration, testing, and enhancement of ERP and insurance platforms (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Guidewire, Duck Creek, etc.).
  • Design and validate integrations between policy, billing, claims, and General Ledger systems.
  • Coordinate and execute SIT, UAT, and defect resolution activities while ensuring adherence to change management processes.
  • Accounting & Insurance Process Optimization
  • Develop and enhance accounting processes related to premium recognition, reserves, claims payments, commissions, and reinsurance settlements.
  • Support automation and process improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Actuarial and Underwriting teams to support financial reporting, reserve analysis, and performance metrics.
  • Data Management & Reporting
  • Ensure data accuracy, reconciliation, and integrity across sub-ledgers and General Ledger systems.
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards, KPIs, and management reports using reporting and analytics tools.
  • Support statutory, regulatory, and management reporting requirements.
  • Compliance, Controls & Audit
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), SOX controls, and insurance regulations.
  • Design, document, and maintain internal controls, audit trails, and process documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing system and process-related documentation.
  • Stakeholder Management & Training
  • Act as the primary liaison between business and technical teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Develop training materials, SOPs, data dictionaries, and user documentation.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst supporting Accounting and Finance functions.
  • Strong understanding of General Ledger, reconciliations, month-end close, revenue recognition, and financial controls.
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and data analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within Property & Casualty (P&C), Life, or Reinsurance insurance environments.
  • Knowledge of Guidewire, Duck Creek, or insurance policy administration platforms.
  • Experience with ETL, data warehousing, and integration tools such as Informatica or Azure Data Factory.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, project delivery, and change management practices.
