Business Intelligence Developer

We are Systematix and we are currently seeking a Business Intelligence Developer for an opportunity with a public sector client. The ideal candidate must hold an active Government of Canada Secret (Level II) security clearance and be available to begin work in September 2026 for an initial three-month contract, with the possibility of a three-month extension.

• About the Project
• The BI Developer shall develop BI reports and dashboards within the Microsoft Power BI cloud platform and leverage Azure DevOps Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (“CI/CD”) pipelines to facilitate the controlled promotion of content across the client’s Azure environments. Reporting solutions may rely on multiple data sources, including those that are not currently integrated into the client's Fabric instance or centralized data warehouse.

• About the Responsibilities
• Conduct workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements prior to development.
• Document BI report and data model requirements.
• Establish a project schedule for timeline of the deliverables.
• Consult with client’s Data Innovation and Operations (DIO) team to ensure familiarization with IT infrastructure, data architecture, and DevOPS processes.
• Provide weekly progress updates and variance on deliverable schedule.
• Adapting the existing client experience data model to incorporate desired data elements from source systems.
• Develop the Power BI reports based on the requirements collected.
• Manage the project through Azure DevOPS using CI/CD pipelines and repositories.
• Support end user testing.
• Document the work performed, including technical specifications and data model changes.
• Knowledge transfer with data engineers to ensure transition of support on the BI reports.

• About the Qualifications
• Experience developing interactive reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
• Experience gathering business requirements through stakeholder workshops.
• Experience designing and modifying data models for reporting and analytics.
• Experience working with multiple data sources and integrating disparate datasets.
• Experience documenting technical specifications, requirements, and solution designs.
• Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Experience providing knowledge transfer and technical documentation.
• Assets
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Experience working with customer experience or case management data.
• Experience with Canadian public sector or Crown corporations.
• Experience implementing DevOps best practices for Power BI deployments.

• Pay Disclosure
• The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows:
• Junior: 0–5 years of experience - $40-75/hr
• Intermediate: 6–9 years of experience - $60-100/hr
• Senior: 10+ years of experience - $90-150/hr
• Compensation is commensurate with these standards; exceptions may apply based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
