About The Role
The Business Analyst supports a government agency in fulfilling its mission by providing critical expertise in planning, discovery, and implementation phases of projects. This role is integral to the project team, responsible for analyzing, documenting, and translating business requirements into technical specifications to facilitate system development and integration. The position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in business systems, workflows, and data exchange, working in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on compliance, security, and stakeholder engagement. This is a fully remote position, requiring the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance to access sensitive systems and information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum 7-9 years of experience in business analysis, focusing on business requirements, interoperability, and data exchange
- At least 3 years of experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe)
- Hands-on experience with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, analysis, design, testing, and implementation
- Proven ability to collaborate with development teams to translate business needs into technical specifications
- Experience creating and managing documentation such as BRDs, system use cases, process flows, and functional requirements
- Familiarity with SQL and database queries for healthcare data analysis (preferred)
- Experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau (preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex workflows
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement
- Ability to facilitate meetings, document discussions, and track action items effectively
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
Responsibilities
- Analyze and document business processes related to mission support workflows, ensuring compliance with industry standards and security requirements
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define, refine, and prioritize business requirements for interconnected systems and databases
- Develop detailed functional and non-functional requirements to support data integration and exchange workflows
- Work closely with development and implementation teams to ensure system functionalities align with business needs and regulatory standards
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, document discussions, and track action items to ensure project milestones are met
- Support backlog grooming by developing user stories, acceptance criteria, and maintaining them throughout the project lifecycle
- Identify inefficiencies in workflows and recommend process improvements for better interoperability and data exchange
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including BRDs, use cases, process diagrams, and technical guides
- Ensure data privacy, security, and integrity in all workflows, collaborating with compliance teams
- Develop flow diagrams, data models, swimlane diagrams, and system interaction charts to visualize processes
- Act as liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams, translating requirements into technical specifications
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by defining test scenarios, reviewing test cases, and validating solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to promote continuous improvement
