About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Business Analyst to join our PlayStation Store team in San Mateo, CA, or remotely for candidates on the west coast. This senior individual-contributor role is pivotal in shaping the future of our Direct-to-Consumer businesses, including PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating complex commercial opportunities into clear business requirements, influencing strategic decisions, and driving operational improvements. This role operates at the intersection of business strategy, data analytics, product development, and engineering, emphasizing decision quality, experimentation, and commercial impact. It does not involve owning a product roadmap or managing delivery teams but focuses on providing actionable insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, engineers, and business leaders, to ensure that new product features and initiatives align with business objectives and drive measurable growth.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Business Analysis within digital commerce, subscriptions, or retail businesses
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification preferred
  • Proven ability to decompose complex business problems into structured questions and clear requirements
  • Strong experience partnering with product, engineering, and data science teams to develop and deliver commerce solutions
  • Expertise in mapping and improving business processes, with a focus on automation and operational efficiency
  • Deep understanding of experimentation, measurement, and data-driven decision making
  • Commercial acumen, including familiarity with unit economics, ROI, and revenue optimization
  • Excellent executive-level communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly and credibly
  • Ability to challenge assumptions and build compelling arguments backed by data and financial reasoning

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex business analysis for high-impact initiatives across digital commerce, personalization, subscriptions, and publishing operations
  • Translate commercial objectives into detailed, actionable business requirements with measurable outcomes
  • Partner with product, engineering, data analytics, and data science teams to ensure product requirements meet business needs and facilitate successful development and deployment
  • Design and execute experiments related to personalization, revenue growth, and operational enhancements, then analyze and evaluate results
  • Map existing business processes and guide the organization in process improvements and automation efforts to enhance operational efficiencies
  • Influence senior stakeholders through structured problem framing, financial analysis, and data-supported recommendations
  • Mentor team members in business analysis methodologies, AI/ML concepts, and product development best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning
