About The Role

The Senior Business Analyst - Business Specialist at PacifiCorp plays a vital role in analyzing complex data, developing strategic recommendations, and supporting operational improvements within the company's energy market operations. This position involves conducting detailed research, interpreting data from various sources, and presenting actionable insights to management. The role requires a combination of analytical skills, industry knowledge, and project management capabilities to ensure accurate data validation, process enhancements, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Senior Business Analyst will also lead initiatives related to meter data validation, market participation, and procedural improvements, contributing to the company's efficiency and market competitiveness.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of four years of relevant experience in data analysis, forecasting, modeling, and interpretation is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer applications such as databases, word processing, and presentation tools is essential. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels. Candidates should demonstrate problem-solving abilities, the capacity to present strategic recommendations, and experience working within regulated industries or utility markets. Additional qualifications include knowledge of energy accounting, meter data management, and familiarity with industry-specific tools and systems.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Senior Business Analyst include performing complex assignments that require creativity and strategic thinking. Serving as a subject matter expert, the analyst provides training and communicates policy or procedural changes to team members. They research and analyze large datasets, identify trends, and develop recommendations to improve operational efficiency. The role involves leading the implementation of selected strategies, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining reconciliation with various data sources. Specific duties include validating generation and load resources for California Independent System Operator (CAISO) markets, performing daily validation and estimation of Settlement Quality Meter Data (SQMD), and preparing outbound data submissions in compliance with market requirements. The analyst also conducts root cause analysis on data anomalies, compares meter data against multiple sources, and proposes solutions for data integrity issues. Additionally, they support procedural improvements, assist with market onboarding activities, and coordinate with third-party entities to ensure data access and compliance. The Business Specialist component involves identifying policy and process improvements, supporting load/resource configuration updates, and developing reports and plans to enhance data validation routines and operational processes.
