- Clinical Leadership & Quality
- - Own clinical quality across the clinic (treatment integrity, progress, safety).
- - Set and maintain clinical standards aligned with BACB ethics, NC/Medicaid rules, and Star Spectrum’s play-based, kind, non-directive approach.
- - Review assessments, treatment plans, and progress reports for quality, medical necessity, and consistency.
- - Step in on complex or stalled cases and coach BCBAs through clinical problem-solving.
- - Monitor outcomes, utilization, and caseload health; flag kids who are not making meaningful progress.
- Supervision & Team Development
- - Supervise and mentor BCBAs, BCaBAs/QBAs (if used), and RBTs.
- - Ensure BACB supervision requirements are met (including RBT 5% monthly supervision).
- - Provide regular 1:1s, field observation, modeling, and written/verbal feedback.
- - Lead clinical meetings, case reviews, and skill-building for staff.
- - Support hiring, onboarding, competency checks, and performance coaching of clinical staff.
- - Protect culture: care, kindness, compassion, joyful play, and proactive (not bossy) teaching.
- Assessments, Programming & Client Oversight
- - Oversee or complete initial assessments, FBAs, and reassessments as needed.
- - Ensure individualized, strengths-based treatment plans that fit the child’s personality and family goals.
- - Align programming with early intervention (typically ages 2–12) and real-world skill building.
- - Coordinate care as OT/ST come online so goals stay integrated, not siloed.
- - Support intake-to-first-session flow so families are not left waiting.
- Compliance, Documentation & Payers
- - Keep documentation audit-ready (session notes, supervision logs, authorizations, consents).
- - Support prior authorizations, re-auths, and medical-necessity language.
- - Ensure HIPAA, BACB, and NC Medicaid/telehealth rules are followed.
- - Partner with billing/ops so clinical work matches what is authorized and billed.
- Family Partnership
- - Model and require family-centered communication (clear, warm, no jargon overload).
- - Support parent training and home generalization.
- - Handle clinical escalations and hard conversations with families when needed.
- - Keep families feeling supported, not processed.
- Operations & Growth (with CEO / ops)
- - Partner with leadership on staffing levels, scheduling quality, and clinic capacity.
- - Help shape policies, clinical procedures, and training as the company scales.
- - Represent the clinical voice in growth decisions (new locations, hybrid models, new services).
- - Maintain a small caseload if the role is player-coach; otherwise keep enough floor time to stay connected to the work.
Typical split in a growing clinic:** roughly 50–70% leadership/supervision/quality, 20–40% direct clinical work (assessments + limited caseload), remainder meetings, compliance, and family/staff support.
