JOB DESCRIPTION

  • As the Payroll Product Enablement Lead, this role drives continuous improvement across payroll operations by analyzing existing processes, identifying inefficiencies, and redesigning workflows to better align with system capabilities and operational needs. The position leads tool development and automation—primarily through advanced Excel solutions, templates, calculators, and macros—to streamline processing and reduce manual effort. It also owns the creation of SOPs and training materials that translate complex payroll concepts into clear, actionable guidance for staff. A core responsibility is delivering training to ensure teams understand new processes, adopt tools effectively, and maintain consistency across campuses or business units. The lead partners closely with payroll operations, HRIS, and system teams to validate enhancements, ensure alignment with PeopleSoft/ERP functionality, and monitor adoption of improvements. Ultimately, this role acts as the bridge between system capability, operational execution, and staff readiness—ensuring that improvements are not only designed but fully embedded into day‑to‑day practice.
  • REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of payroll or HRIS experience in a complex operational environment. Hands‑on experience with PeopleSoft payroll or a similar ERP, including understanding of configuration, pay rules, and downstream impacts. Advanced Excel capability (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling, automation, macros). Ability to build tools and operational solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, or user experience. Experience developing and delivering training for payroll, HRIS, or operational teams. Strong process improvement skills with the ability to map workflows, identify gaps, and design scalable solutions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, user‑friendly guidance.
  • NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in system optimization, workflow redesign, or operational transformation initiatives. Background in higher education or shared services environments. Familiarity with UCPath or similar multi‑campus payroll models. Exposure to automation tools such as Power Query, Power Automate, or other low‑code/no‑code platforms. Experience creating scalable training programs for large or distributed teams. Knowledge of change‑management practices to support adoption and long‑term sustainability of improvements.
