About The Role
We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer SME to join our team on a long-term contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience, with a strong background in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and platforms within the AWS cloud environment. This role requires a professional who is proficient in AWS services, Python, Pyspark, and Databricks, and who can work collaboratively with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to enable data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing scalable ETL/ELT processes, managing data lakes and warehouses, and ensuring the integrity, security, and performance of data infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of overall IT experience with a focus on data engineering and cloud technologies.
- Proficiency in AWS services such as Glue, EMR, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Redshift, Athena, and Lake Formation.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Pyspark, and SQL; experience with Scala is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks platform and big data processing frameworks.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Experience with CI/CD practices and infrastructure as code using CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing AWS services such as Glue, EMR, Lambda, and Step Functions.
- Build and maintain data lakes and data warehouses using AWS tools including S3, Redshift, Athena, and Lake Formation.
- Collaborate with data architects and business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement solutions that support analytics and reporting.
- Automate data ingestion, transformation, and validation processes for large-scale datasets from multiple sources.
- Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Monitor the performance of data pipelines and infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements for efficiency and reliability.
- Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code to facilitate maintainability and scalability.
- Implement infrastructure as code using CloudFormation or Terraform to automate deployment processes.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contribute to technical planning, and assist in continuous improvement initiatives.
